Damajagua- 27 vodopádů (27 Charcos de Damajagua)

A beautiful, well-maintained piece of Dominican nature on the Rio Damajagua. Entry is permitted only with a guide and protective equipment. You walk about 35 minutes until you reach waterfalls , from last stop back to camp about 20 minutes. The total time is 3-4 hours, depending on occupancy.

7 waterfalls are always accessible, 12 waterfalls if there is enough water.

You can buy tickets at the entrance. All-inclusive food and free water are always included in the ticket, other drinks are paid for. You can purchase a ticket for the falls combined with the Zipline or just the falls. Whether 7 or 12 waterfalls are open, the price does not change. They will give you helmets and life jackets for free. Sturdy shoes are required, if you don't have your own, you can borrow one for 100 pesos ($2 USD). You can also buy shoes there. I recommend taking your own shoes. Flip flops or slippers are not allowed. Ideally, don't take anything with you. If you want a phone, put it in a waterproof case. Keep things in a locker for $2 small, larger ones are more expensive.

If you choose the Zipline combination, you will start with this. After finishing 5 sections you reach the waterfalls. We split up, Robert went on the Zipline and I walked. After arriving at the first waterfall, I waited less than an hour to meet the zipling group. My hiking trip through the Dominican nature didn't last long and I completed several long stairs down to the first waterfall. I definitely have to appreciate that all waterfalls have a different way than jumping. Robert, on the other hand, appreciated the high jumps. There is also a short curved natural slide on the route, which you have to cross, there is no other way. Here it is important to listen to the instructions and keep your arms crossed on your chest as a safety measure.

The water in the river is cooler, blue-green and relatively clear, but you cannot see the bottom of the depth. The environment of the river between the high rocks offers amazing scenery and the waterfalls are diverse. The place tends to be very busy and you will probably be waiting for the group in front of you. We visited the waterfalls in the off-season and there were quite a few of us there. If you choose this place, you won't regret it.
