Playa Las Terrenas
Beach closest to the city center. Basically all beach bars and restaurants stretch along it - looking at the ocean and enjoying dinner or fun with friends is a part of this beach :).
This beach spreads from the beach Punta Poppy up to Pueblo de Los Pescadores - where there used to be beautiful colorful wooden houses that were very popular restaurants and were considered as a "treasure" of Las Terrenas. Unfortunately, in the summer of 2021, they burned down by accident due to a short circuit in electricity. Today, you can find there only theirs remains.
The beach is perfect for a walk, enjoying free time in a bar (for example ETNO), in restaurants or to watch the sunset. It is not for real rest or sunbathing. On the west side, it is close to the road to the beach Las Ballenas, so there is a lot of noise and, among other things, there are anchored boats. After a storm, the river right next to the ETNO bar often washes the mess from the whole city into the ocean, and it's an ugly sight - the water in the ocean is brown, full of mud and garbage. The only option for swimming and sunbathing is east of the ETNO club in front of the restaurants, where you can enjoy your free time with food or a drink in hand. The restaurants mostly belong to locals, so you can treat yourself to gourmet experiences. At the end of the long row of restaurants is the beautifully designed Zu Ceviche Bar, where you can enjoy amazing fresh seafood directly from the fishermen who sell their catch around the corner. After all, you can buy fish or other seafood yourself at the market to the east of the restaurant. The beach stretches along the road further east of the city to the beach Punta Poppy. Of course, the beach is almost unusable, because it is right next to the road, which means there is a lot of noise from motorbikes, and due to sand erosion, they added stone barriers there, so they shortened the beach to a minimum.
