Thursday
I won't lie to you. After the days before Semana Santa itself, I woke up on Thursday with a little soul, what will happen next. On Thursday, the guests who were staying in our house before, were supposed to come again so we were very happy. But when I saw what the local power plants were doing, how we were without electricity for a few hours every day, I was a little worried. However, I told to myslf. that they have already prepared the city for semana santa and so everything could be fine. Wrong. Along with our guests, others came to the house in our condominium. And thanks to these people from the first house, our calm and peaceful condominium has become a zoo. And literally. During my time here, I've gotten used to loud music and screaming everywhere. I even like their culture and loud music, and to some extent I'm tolerant of some excesses. Ladies and gentlemen, I would not have dreamed what would happen here. A few minutes after their arrival, the house became a disco. Imagine a bug speaker, turned towards the surroundings, which plays to the fullest, you can feel its vibrations in the apartment next to the house and you do not hear your own words. Yes. And now imagine that this condition lasts for about 12 hours a day. First day okay, I can stand it during the day. By the evening at 10pm I was already growling nervous. However, a few minutes after 10 pm the music fell silent. I was thinking.. yes, I will sleep. Uhm .. Wake up at 5 in the morning. Some idiot from the guests from the house thought of a terribly great idea to turn on the music (as usual on full balls) from the car speakers. To make it a real smirk, of course, he opened all the doors and the trunk. So, of course, it could be good to hear. Well I am not going to tolerate this, I told to myslef. I pulled on the first shorts I found, and with my eyes half-closed, I ran upstairs to make order. Of course, none of those present were sane - they came from a party in the city, and I was quite surprised that they came to the house without harm to their health. After my performance with non fluent Spanish at 5 in the morning, they turned off the music without a word, so I proudly marched back to my still warm bed. I won't pretend that I am a hero, I was still stressed for 10 minutes. But somehow I calmed down and decided that I would still try to fall asleep. Mistake again. The electricity went out. So our mini backup system started beeping at our whole apartment after 5 o'clock in the morning :) Ok, some things you just can not influence.
Friday
You won't do much after such "good" night's sleep and without electricity. Feeling down, praise that we have at least a gas stove and I could at least heat up a water and prepare a coffe. The internet did not go, the apartment was hot and the fools over us, woke up. Apparently, the night party was not enough for them - the music started playing again. The electricity has not been going on for a few hours and since the external water pumping system is also connected to the electricity and does not have a backup system, so guess what - the water did not go either. So our guests were without electricity, water and inadvertently had to listen to that annoying, never-ending and loud music. I think they got out and went somewhere better. We were terribly sorry. Well, we did the same. It was out of the question to take a motorcycle and go somewhere, so we decided to go for a drink in the city and walk at the same time. So it was a "spectacle." I can't even describe the madness happening in the whole city. Well, I'll try to get it a little closer. Imagine that you don't have a chance to move to or off the city, there are noisy motorcycles, quad bikes, buggies on which young Dominicans drive like crazy. There is different music playing from every part of the beach and from every car, and on top of it, it is 35 degrees celsius. Extreme. There was no living soul in the bar we visited, except for the staff, we were really happy, we could relax - even though the noise and music could be heard from the street. Never mind - better than sticking in an apartment without electricity, AC and water. When we got home it was around 5pm and the electricity was still nowhere. I note that the electricity did not go from about 5:30. To sum it up, they turned on the electricity after about 12 hours of outage. Oh yes. So after switching on, we had everything charged immediately, after a hot day, a cold shower came in handy, and we ate and were slowly approaching to the evening. Otherwise, the music from the neighbors still played. Fortunately, the house is connected to the backup system - our apartment is not :). So I started to deal with this, by informing the caretaker of the house with complaints. It didn't help. The music stopped again only when the crew went to the city to party. Silence, electricity works, animals left = happy feeling. We're going to sleep.
Saturday
We somehow slept, but again we woke up without electricity. So I went to apologize to our guests for the inconvenience. A sledge fell on my way through the garden. There was a mess everywhere, garbage. I'd rather not even look at the pool. The guests were also a little angry, but they still understood the situation, but they said that even they are Dominicans, such behavior is just across the line. After a few hours without electricity, there was no water, so we brought our guests at least the drinking one when nothing worked. But what I saw in the garden on the way back, oh let me tell you, I had had enough. The capacity of the house is max 10 people. Well, in the garden and around the house, I counted about 25 people. Without our guests and guests from the other house. We are writing another complaint. It doesn't help. Do you know what helped? That the backup batteries of the house where these unruly people were also discharged. It was calm. But still without energy. So we went to town again. We came back and this time they managed to turn on the electricity after 10 hours :). But loud music started making our lives uncomfortable again. Another complaint. I don't even know how, but we fell asleep.
Sunday
It's 2 o'clock in the morning. I am waking up from a pretty nice dream, hearing out of Latin music until I realized that this music is actually playing and that I hear a loud scream in the garden. I put on the first clothes I found again and go upstairs to the terrace. The speaker turned into space again, not a word was heard, these idiots were screaming out loud in the pool. What does that mean ?! I've lost my temper. And my dear boyfriend too. So we went upstairs to talk to them. It helped for a while (about 20 seconds) and then again. I didn't go up again, luckily, something probably enlightened them and in the end they gave up after about half an hour. But what I was most sorry about was the fact that our guests had a little daughter and an old grandmother with them. We were really angry and desperate. At least for the first night the electricity did not went out. However, our guests had to check out on this day. It has been relatively quiet since the morning. And I immediately found out why. When I went to the guests, on the way through the garden I found sleeping guests outside on the terrace - they were completely KO. So I suggested to our guests that if they wanted, they could stay longer. Of course, they preferred to go home, but they explained to us that it was because if they went later, they would be in danger of traveling 4 hours instead of 2 hours. Because of traffic jams. The bastards woke up, and what did they do again? I don't have to write it anymore, however .. So I wrote a message to the caretaker asking for how long these guests have paid for their stay. Answer - Monday. My God. We were invited to a family celebration of our Italian friend. So our guests got up, we locked the house, got on a motorcycle and cheers for the celebration. However, when we came came back after few hours, there was a suspicious silence in the condominium. The lord listened to me (in this case he was the caretaker of the house) and fired these animals. Hooray. You probably can't even imagine that blissful feeling. Definitely not. So this was the end of our Easter adventure.
However, the sad sight was of the city and the beach, after what was happening here. The cleaning services had a lot of work to do. And the people of Las Terrenas were shaken as well. However, look at the photos and judge for yourself…
